BUSINESS AS USUAL - Anyone wanting to visit the newly opened Butchers Arms or The Crown Inn at Woolhope, will need to take a short detour via Fownhope if you are coming from Hereford, owing to the three-month water pipe installations.

WHITNEY COURT GARDEN FETE - On Sunday from 2.30pm enjoy tours of Whitney Court, numerous stalls and a cream tea. All for £5, children half price. This will be followed by an evening concert of local talent at 7pm.

GARDENING SOCIETY - Weobley and District Gardening Society held its summer show on Saturday. Entries were well up on last year and there was a dazzling display of flowers.

GARDEN PARTY - Fantastic weather blessed the garden party at Plover’s Cottage, Woolhope, held on August 8, to celebrate 80 short years for Wendy Francis. Donations in lieu of presents were directed towards a choice of charities including the Parkinsons Disease Society (local and national), SPANA and The Smile Train. These donations amounted to a grand total of £1,220 and Wendy wishes to thank everyone for their help, support and generosity, and for giving her a great day.

COFFEE MORNING – This month’s coffee morning will take place tomorrow (Friday) in the community room between 10.30am and noon. Entry is free and all villagers of whatever age are most welcome. There will be a raffle and tea, coffee and a variety of goodies available to enjoy. Any profits will go to the community association to help it refurbish the community room.

COACH TRIP – Seats are available on a coach day trip to the Botanic Gardens of Wales on September 3, departing Wigmore Village Hall at 9.30am, returning at 5.45pm.

CANAL WALKS – The Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Canal Trust is holding its annual open day on Sunday, August 16, at Yarkhill Village Hall, 10.30am to 5pm. There will be a series of guided walks of around oneand- a-half hours along the canal at 10.40am, 11.30am, 2pm and 3.30pm.
