Whitney-on-Wye

FLOWER FESTIVAL - Villagers wanted to do something a little different this year. “We are only a small community so don’t have the resources to man big displays and marquees,” said churchwarden Janet Bumford. St Peter’s Well is next to the church of Saints Peter and Paul, so was born the idea of a well dressing. The idea came from Diane Pritchard who grew up in the east Midlands and remembers the Derbyshire well dressings from her childhood. “Rather than trying to replicate those very intricate displays, we have gone for our own Whitney take on the well dressings,” she explains.
