LUCTONIANS have a break from league duties on Saturday when they make the trip to Warwickshire to face Rugby Lions in the EDF Energy National Trophy.

The Kingsland club are set to rest several key players against the National Three South side but with arguably their strongest squad in a number of years, officials at Mortimer Park are hopeful of a positive result.

Luctonians' Director of Rugby Dave Thomas said: "From our experience of playing clubs in National Three North, we would probably cope with clubs in the bottom half of that division, the top half might be a bit more difficult.

"Rugby are now in National Three South, but it will be another opportunity to test ourselves against National League opposition.

" A home game against them would have been a wonderful draw for us, but it is going to be difficult going away."
