Michelle hopes to use experience for a strong title bid

1:39pm Friday 25th April 2008

THE 2008 Motorsport season is now underway and Michelle Nixon from Little Malvern is due to begin her championship bid on Saturday in the Dunlop MINI Challenge.

The season begins at Snetterton race circuit in Norfolk on Saturday and Sunday with a triple header.

Nixon had success last year in the same championship which is part of the Dunlop Great & British Series and hopes to use her experience to put forward a strong title bid this year in her Works MINI Cooper.

Nixon has managed to secure some good sponsorship deals, mainly with parts and bodywork from Mansell Motorsport.

She will also continue to be supported by Parry Signs of Malvern and thanks everyone who has helped her in preparation for the coming year.

Unfortunately, at present Nixon has only enough funding confirmed to compete at the first round. Entry fees are just over £1,000 per weekend and Nixon is desperate for any local companies/ businesses or anyone interested to help her and reminds everyone that sponsorship is 40% tax deductible.

Nixon said: “It’s really tough trying to find sponsors and everyone always assumes it would be easier for me because of my gender, unfortunately it’s not always the case and this is why we have so little women racing at high levels.

“I want to go as far as possible but I need some financial backing to do so.” If you would like to come and watch the action or would like any more information check out the MINI Challenge website www. minichallenge.co.uk or call Michelle on 07890596723.
