THE Hereford Times Herefordshire Football League Premier Division title race reached a dramatic conclusion with Woofferton snatching the crown on the last day of action.

Sutton visited Aynall Lane last Thursday, leading the title race by a point from the home side, knowing that a win or a draw would allow them to take their first championship since 1974.

But Woofferton, who had never before taken the title, had other ideas.

The north Herefordshire side romped into a 4-1 interval lead but then had to endure a second-half fight-back as Sutton went all out to claw their way back into the race.

Sutton pulled back to 4-3 and Woofferton then had to hold out through nine minutes of added time before the celebrations could begin.
