VETERAN runner Ian Sockett was presented a prestigious award after a very different year running.
Wye Valley Runners recently held their annual running club awards which were this year online.
Sockett was presented with the John Tarrant Cup for Runner of the Year.
The cup is in memory of the Hereford Ghost Runner - John Tarrant - a Hereford running legend.
Last year Sockett took it upon himself to run the cancelled London Marathon by running laps around his home city.
“ The opportunity to run my 10th London Marathon, just a few days after turning 50 and successfully hitting my lifetime fundraising total of £30,000 was a lifetime goal," he said.
"Then the Covid-19 lockdown changed everything. I have supported Macmillan for many years, inspired by their holistic approach."
Further awards were presented to Dan Lewis as the club’s Most Improved Male runner and Becky Humphreys won the Most Improved Female runner.
Paddy Nugent picked up the club’s Mighty Oak Award - given to the club member deemed to have contributed most to the club in the past 12 months.
The club welcome new members.
