CHARLOTTE Colbert threw a new Welsh Junior League record in the javelin at the Plate Final in Swansea.
On what turned out to the hottest day of the year the Hereford and County AC athletes were once again in fine form.
Colbert led the way winning the hammer and discus events, but saved the best until last setting a new personal best of 40.98 metres and a new Welsh Junior League record in the javelin.
Matthew Mannion again led the way home in the under-11 age category winning the 800 metres and narrowly missing the league record time.
He then went on to finish second in the 150 metres.
Teammate Tom Hawkyard was the runner up in the ‘B’ 800m race.
In the under-13 category Owain Ridgway was the winner of the 75m hurdles, while team-mates Phoenix Clarke and Alfie Swindale gained second places in the 100m and long jump ‘B’ events.
Ben Hawkyard ran an excellent 800m, finishing second to the Rhondda athlete.
He followed this up by winning both his 200m and Shot ‘B’ events.
In the under-15 events Jamie Stearman won both the 100m and long jump ‘A’ events and was second in the 200m.
Meanwhile, Matt Brunnock led the 800m from start to finish for another win for the boys.
Tess Morgan also had an excellent day jumping to second place in the under-13 long jump and throwing the javelin for second place ,with a new personal best.
Cailtin Fthers was second B in long jump and 1B in javelin.
Chihiro Lovejoy had her best results of the season finishing third in both shot and discus.
The under-15 girls was produced some very strong performances with Eva Tyler winning both the 100m and 200m before coming second in the long jump.
Jess Morgan took first and second in the javelin and discus ‘B’ events.
Meanwhile, Sophia Tootell had two second places and a win in her 100m, 200m and long jump ‘B’ events.
The Hereford team finished sixth on the day, with Neath the Plate Final Champions.
The HCAC AGM is to be held on September 18 at 7pm at Hereford Leisure Centre.
