NATIONAL and local netball looks set to receive a shot in the arm from England’s clean sweep against Australia.

The national side won all three games against the team from Down Under and Herefordshire netball chairman Helen Bowden believes the success can only be good for the game in the county.

“This will really help the momentum of the sport,”

she said. “It inspires existing players and coaches to want to play more and improve their play, and it inspires those that haven't played since school to get involved again as it reminds them how good the game is.

“Enquiries have grown through herefordshirenetball.

co.uk over recent months for our Back to Netball programme and for players looking for teams.

I’m sure this will increase.

“And it gives our talented youngsters something real to aspire to - successful, brilliant netballers whom people are starting to talk about . This, in turn, makes them want to work harder and achieve more.

“Our coaching sessions now start: ‘We’re just going to work on a few of the best England moves’.”

Bowden, who attended the final game of the three match series in Birmingham, was also upbeat after hearing that England Netball had been awarded £25.3m to deliver their 2013- 7 plans for the game which is the fastest growing sport in the country.

“We have a long way to go but this is a good start."
