A HEREFORDSHIRE school that was in special measures two years ago has been given a prestigious award for achievement.

St Weonards Primary School has managed to turn around its fortunes and in doing so has been awarded the Basic Skills Agency Mark, which is held in high regard by Ofsted.

In order to get the award, the school, which has 35 pupils on its books, had to produce evidence of successful practice and progress of the children in all areas, before a team of Ofsted inspectors interviewed staff, governors, parents and children.
