WOODEN street sculptures have sprung up in Hereford.
The pieces appeared overnight on a footpath near the Victoria Bridge and alongside the duck pond on Cantilupe Street.
They were put their by art group The Bestiary which hopes to raise money for a more ambitious project.
“In a nutshell, we are young artists trying to put ourselves on the creative map,” explains the group’s website.
“What we would like to do is draw focus to areas of decay, firstly in our own city and then the rest of the UK.
“Simply put, we would like to build trees; trees in abandoned warehouses, trees in derelict restaurants and decrepit print shops, trees built entirely out of reclaimed timber.”
The group plans to film their work and compile the footage into a short film.
“What we're really trying to capture is a sense of life and growth in an environment that has in effect been left to die,” the website adds.
For the project to go ahead, the group aims to raise £3,000 by the end of the month.
Until they do, members of the Bestiary say they will produce at least one new sculpture a week.
