FETE - Aymestrey fete, postponed from July, is on Saturday at 1pm. Because the usual venue is still unfit for parking, it will now take place in the signposted field on the north side of the village, 300 yards past the Riverside Inn. The produce show will be held in the marquee with all the scheduled classes and entries will be accepted from 12.45pm to 1.30pm. After judging, the marquee will be re-opened for viewing. There will be all the usual fete attractions and stalls, children’s races, a fun dog show, and the afternoon wouldn’t be complete without the traditional tug of war. Children who were unable to collect their Diamond Jubilee mugs at the celebrations in June can collect them at the fete. Volunteers to help set things up are asked to meet on the field at 10am tomorrow (Friday) and stallholders are requested to be in plenty of time to organise their stalls on Saturday.
SERVICE - There will be a service of holy communion on Sunday at 9.30am at Aymestrey. As the churches at Aymestrey, Leinthall Earls, Kingsland and Eardisland are presently interregnum, churchwardens will do their best to keep services going. To check times, call Meg Thorpe on 780384 or Stuart Hutchings on 770536.
QUIZ - Local teams should start brushing up on their general knowledge as the autumn season of quiz nights starts again on September 7 at 8pm. Entry for teams of up to four is £5.
