POLICE are still on the look out for a man who they believe has been stealing fuel from garage forecourts in the county for a decade.

The man (pictured) first came to their attention in April 2002 and since then it is alleged that he has stolen more than £6,000 worth of petrol or fuel.

Most of the 100 offences have taken place in south Herefordshire, but officers believe that he may have committed further ones in neighbouring force areas.

“Over the course of the past decade we have tried to identify this man in a number of different ways, but at the moment he continues to prove elusive,” said Inspector Neil Whitchurch.

“He has become quite a notorious figure for officers locally and he’s a fairly famous face on the Herefordshire Territorial Policing Unit because he has been offending for so long.

“This man has been helping himself to petrol and then driving off without paying for it for many, many years and it’s about time he was stopped.”

Anyone with information should call Hereford police on 101 or 0300 333 3000.
