A LEOMINSTER man’s plans for a world record attempt have been dashed by Guinness.

Ged Musto had hoped to break the over-40s record for the most amount of push-ups in one minute.

But Guinness World Records has decided to ‘rest’ the challenge, meaning no one can attempt the record and become a new record holder.

An email to Mr Musto from Guinness said: “We realise this will be disappointing to you. However, we have considered your application carefully; in the context of the specific subject area and that of records as a whole, and this is our decision.” “I am bitterly disappointed, especially as my training was going very nicely towards setting a new record,” said Mr Musto.

“However, I will not let this deter me in any shape or form in hoping to set a world record in another stamina and endurance event.”
