I AM glad to see something is being done about this lovely building (online: Leominster’s derelict Royal Oak hotel “sound”, says council, April 15).
It should be an offence to let listed properties fall apart, and although the building is deemed safe, it is getting closer to being lost completely. It is going to cost a lot to sort it out, but it will ultimately cost more to knock it down, not least in terms of its carbon footprint.

I would like to see this building saved. My daughter was very interested in running the hotel prior to lockdown, which is what killed it off, in my view.
We as a town have no hotels to offer our travelling customers to stay in, and with it so close to the railway station, it is in a very good position for trade.
I have been going to that hotel for 35 years on and off, and have seen the changes of management over time. It’s sad to see a very characteristic building so neglected. Bring back the hotel and look after our heritage!
