A HEREFORDSHIRE school has had to close its doors today.
Westfield Sixth Form in Ryelands Road, Leominster will not open today (February 5) due to unexpected levels of staff illness, partly as a result of COVID-19, according to a notice sent out by the school through Herefordshire Council.
The wider Westfield School remains open, however, and an update is expected to be issued later today confirming whether the sixth form will be re-opening tomorrow.

This is the second time in recent weeks that parts of the site have had to close, as an environmental issue in Westfield Walk led to sewage polluting the grounds and car park of Westfield School in Leominster on January 24.
A spokesperson for the school said: "We apologise for the inconvenience but are unable to guarantee safe staffing levels at this time."
Westfield School is a small maintained Special School for students with severe or complex learning difficulties.
Its students are within the age range of two to 19 years.
