THE first of three Bank Holidays in May is just around the corner, and with the long weekend fast approaching, many people will be hoping for some dry weather.
And you are in luck, as according to the Met Office, Monday (May 1) is set to be very pleasant in Herefordshire with temperatures in the mid to late teens. This follows more unsettled, colder conditions experienced earlier this week.
It comes after speculation that rising temperatures in Spain and a hot blast of African air could send tempeatures up to 20C in parts of the UK over the Bank Holiday weekend.
As of 2pm today (Friday), the mercury stood at 17C in Hereford, and it's set to remain mild over the long weekend with only Sunday looking unsettled.

Met Office Chief Meteorologist Steve Willington said: “The cold conditions from earlier in the week will linger longest in the far north of Scotland but the rest of the UK will see the transition to warmer, but more unsettled conditions.
“Following on from Wednesday’s largely cloudy conditions, two areas of rain will move in overnight. Western Scotland and the South West will see the first rainfall, which could be heavy at times.
"In Scotland there is a chance of transient mountain snow as the rain band spreading from the west bumps into the colder air to the north and east.”
