AN outdoor adventure centre near Leominster saw a very different activity taking place in its woodland recently.
Oaker Wood Leisure – which specialises in outdoor adventurous activities such as quad trekking, paintball, raft building and clay pigeon shooting – welcomed three members of the Herefordshire Fungus Survey Group to foray across the site.
Marketing manager of Oaker Wood Leisure, Kate Tudge, said: "We have noticed a variety of fungi in the wood, especially during the autumn.
"In fact one of our customers who was quad trekking recently posted some pictures of 'toadstools' on our Facebook page.
"However, we are definitely not experts in identifying some of the more unusual varieties and so we were delighted to welcome the Fungus Society to help us identify some of the species growing in our woodland playground."
Some of the species identified during their visit were clouded agaric, sulphur tuft, frosty bonnet and candlesnuff fungus.
The uncovered species could act as names of future team building activity stations at the centre.
The Herefordshire Fungus Group organises surveys across the county and puts together a range of events open to the public.
