A BANNED driver was caught by police driving on Belmont Road in Hereford.

Silvanija Vaistariene, 47, of Dunoon Mead, Hereford pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and driving without a licence at Hereford Magistrates Court on November 26.

On November 11, officers in an unmarked police car recognised her registration plate as she drove her car on Belmont Road.

She was arrested as she had been disqualified from driving on October 22 for 20 months due to drink drive offence.

The court heard she had driven that day to get to a new job in Leominster, after a friend had failed to take her.

Sentencing was adjourned until yesterday when she received 12 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months. She was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and was disqualified from driving for three years.

She was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £80 government surcharge.
