AN appeal has been lodged with the Secretary of State after plans for 127 homes in Bromyard were turned down.
In April this year Herefordshire Council’s planning committee rejected an application by Marsten Developments to build the homes on land at Porthouse Farm off the Tenbury Road.
Of the 127 homes, around 35 per cent would have been in the affordable bracket.
The refusal was made despite the plan being recommended for approval. Councillors, however, cited concerns over noise and light pollution.
Last week Marsten has appealed to the secretary of state against the refusal.
The site is the centre of a longrunning bid by Marsten to build homes there.
Almost three years ago the firm drew up plans to build 175 properties on the land but this was refused as it was outside the town’s settlement boundary.
