THE Boyan Ensemble of Kiev will give the final concert of their 2008 tour at St Francis Xavier Church in Broad Street next Thursday – and fans of the singers are being asked to reveal their reminiscences of the choir for inclusion in a book to mark the Boyan Ensemble’s 20th tour in three years’ time.
“Fans of the Ensemble are amazingly loyal and many have struck up personal friendships over the years with the singers,” said Barbara Young, the organiser of the Hereford concert.
“They are drawn by the Ensemble’s beautiful rendering of traditional sacred Orthodox chants, which often move audiences to tears, and by the exciting Ukrainian folk songs.
“These singers are the best of their kind in the world and we are extremely privileged to be able to see them performing live in Hereford.”
Tickets for the concert in St Francis Xavier Church at 7.30pm on Thursday, November 27, are available from The Outback and on 01432 275063.
The Boyan Ensemble can also be seen in St Laurence’s Church, Ludlow, on Saturday (for tickets, call 01584 875363 or 01584 875053) and in Malvern Priory on Wednesday, November 26, (for details and tickets, call 01684 575915).
