Loughts Finish On Winning Note

Old Loughtonians............5

(Englinsh Hockey League Premier Div)

OLD LOUGHTONIANS salvaged some pride at the weekend with a convincing victory over fellow mid-table outfit Hounslow.

Before the game the visitors were only two points behind Loughts, who confirmed their superiority as well as taking the much needed three points.

Player-coach Nicky Thompson led the way, hitting three goals past Hounslow's Canadian international keeper.

It wasn't until the end of the match that Hounslow grabbed a consolation goal from a penalty corner.

For Loughts, the outdoor game now takes a winter break until their sixth round English Hockey Association Cup match on January 17 against division one leaders Doncaster. Until then, indoor hockey takes priority and Old Loughts will be at Aldenham School to defend their Eastern Region Indoor title this weekend.
