THERE are now three flood alerts in place for Herefordshire as rain continues to hit the county.

The Environment Agency has this morning (December 9) added the river Frome to the list, with alerts also in place for the river Leadon catchment and river Lugg, south of Leominster.

River levels are rising at Bishops Frome, meaning that flooding is expected to affect low-lying land and roads along the river Frome from Bromyard to Hereford, as well as Bishops Frome and Yarkhill.

OTHER NEWS:

Locals have said this morning (December 9) that there are still a couple of deep patches of water on the A44 Bromyard to Worcester road, but is passable with care.

River levels are also rising at the Wedderburn Bridge river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Therefore, there could be flooding near the river Leadon, which includes Ledbury and Much Marcle.

There could also be flooding on roads and farmland by the Lugg, south of Leominster, from Stoke Prior to Mordiford. This includes Bodenham, Lugwardine and Hampton Bishop.

ALSO READ:

The only reported road closure in the county is in Lower Bullingham Lane, Hereford, between Hoarwithy Road and Windsor Road. That has been in place since Monday (December 4) after a car got stuck in floodwater.

The weather is set to be dry this afternoon (December 9) with the sun coming out. However, it will still be breezy. A yellow weather warning for wind is in place until 11.45pm tonight.

Due to the forecast, Hay Markets cancelled its Christmas market that was due to take place today.

More rain is due to fall tomorrow (December 10) and into the early part of next week before it becomes drier from Wednesday (December 13).
