Dunkirk 1 Westfields 2 WESTFIELDS are up to eighth in the Midland Alliance table after making the long journey back from Nottingham-based Dunkirk with all three points.
The city side’s hero was young striker Aidan Thomas who bagged both goals to secure Fields’ fifth win of the season.
Jamie Cuss went close from a Sam Gwynne pass, and then seemed unfortunate to be denied a penalty when felled in the area, before Fields took the lead on the half-hour.
Cuss was the provider, beating two defenders before pulling the ball back for Thomas to smash home.
Early in the second period, Kieran Wells shot the home side level.
But Westfields were quickly back on the attack and, after Craig Jones had seen an effort brilliantly saved by James Mountain, the former Hereford United midfielder provided the pass for Thomas to power home his second.
Only a fine Mountain save prevented Thomas from completing his hat-trick.
And, although Dunkirk pressed towards the end, excellent defending from Phil Harris and Joel Edwards prevented any chance of an equaliser.
