Westfields 2 Rocester 2.

AN injury-time penalty from top goalscorer Richard Kear rescued Westfields as they twice came from behind to earn a point against Rocester in this Midland Alliance fixture.

Fields should have been in front in the opening 20 minutes, but missed a series of great opportunities through Anthony Robbins, Jamie Cuss and Carl Morgan.

The missed opportunities proved costly for Sean Edwards’ men as Rocester scored against the run of play when Craig Holland fired home a 25-yard shot past an unsighted Jamie Moore in the 32nd minute. However, Westfields restored parity with their visitors when Cuss buried his shot into the bottom corner.

But any hopes that the allpay.park side would go on and win were dealt a huge blow when Joel Edwards was sent off for a high tackle on a Rocester defender. The visitors went back in front in the 72nd minute when Jordan Nadat turned Dene Whittal-Williams in the penalty area and beat Moore with a low shot. It looked as if defeat was on the cards for Westfields, but the city side were awarded penalty deep into injury-time after a Rocester defender was deemed to have handled the ball in the area.

Kear sent Froggatt the wrong way to the delight of the Westfields supporters.
