Westfields 2 Loughborough University 5.

WESTFIELDS continue to struggle at home after their fifth straight Midland Alliance defeat at allpay. park.

The city side began the campaign promisingly with a 5-0 opening day win against Continental Star on August 3.

But, since then, although their away form has been promising, with three wins and three draws from eight outings, they have failed to add a single point on home territory.

Fields began promisingly against the students and created plenty of chances in the early stages.

Jamie Cuss and Jamie Insall wasted good opportunities while Insall and Brad Birch were denied by fine saves from Loughborough keeper Ben Hazlett. The home side were, predictably, made to pay for their wastefulness as the University side scored three times in 15 minutes in the lead-up to the interval through Kieran Kenlock, Max Herbert and Sam Miniham.

When George Nash added a fourth just after the break, the students were firmly in command. But Westfields showed some spirit and a header from Zac Sirrell and a fine opportunist goal from substitute Michael Opoku raised hopes of a revival.

Thoughts of a comeback were dashed, however, when Alan Webb took advatantage of some poor defending to round off the scoring.

Westfields have another chance to bring their poor home run to an end when they entertain third-from-bottom Rocester on Saturday.
