Heath Hayes 1 Westfields 3

TWO goals from ex-Hereford United youngster Craig Jones put Westfields clear at the top of the Midland Football Alliance.

Man-of-the-match Jones scored twice from 20 yards as table-topping Westfields defeated highflying Heath, who had been unbeaten in their previous five matches.

Westfields made a great start when Jones raced down the left flank and cut inside before unleashing a cracking 20-yard shot into the far corner.

Hayes hit back and Phil Glover headed a shot off the Westfields’ goal line, then Dan Price blocked a goal-bound effort.

Westfields finished the first half strongly as Anthony Robbins’ piledriver was brilliantly saved by Adam Jenkins then Aiden Thomas saw a left-foot shot whistle past a post.

Heath Hayes pushed after the break and Jamie Moore saved well from Danny Owen.

Heath Hayes pulled level on the hour.

Glover gave away a penalty when he pulled back David Waple and the striker slotted home the penalty at the second attempt after Moore pushed out the spot kick.

Westfields regained the lead in the 80th minute when Jones intercepted a cross-field pass, raced forward and drove a shot into the far corner of the net.

The Hereford club sealed the points in the 82nd minute after Kear sent substitute Kiran Dingri down on the right and his pin-point cross was tucked home by Chris Fower.
