A Hereford club’s goal this season is to reach two senior cup finals at Football League grounds.

Westfields have already booked their place in the HFA County Challenge Cup final at Edgar Street on Easter Monday.

The club are now aiming to reach their first Polymac Services Midland Alliance League Cup final at Walsall Football Club’s Banks’ Stadium.

“We have come a long way this season and are improving all the time,” said Westfields manager Sean Edwards.

Westfields will face Coleshill Town in a two-legged semi-final of the Midland Alliance League Cup.

They travel to Coleshill in the first leg of their semi-final on Tuesday, March 30 before hosting the Warwickshire side at allpay.park on Tuesday, April 13.

Coventry Sphinx meet Causeway United in the other semi-final.

Westfields will also be going all-out to regain the HFA County Challenge Cup when they play Ledbury Town in the final.

The city club have dominated the competition since the turn of the century – winning it five times.

But Westfields lost on penalties to Wellington in last year’s final.

“The HFA County Challenge Cup is an important cup for the club,” said Edwards, who has won the competition five times as a manager.

The winning team also earns the right to play Hereford United at home in a friendly next season.

“Last year we lost on penalties in the final to Wellington but, in the past, we have won it on penalties when we probably didn't deserve to. Last year we should have won the game - but we lost,” said Edwards.

Ledbury Town pipped Leominster Town, 2-1, to reach this season’s final and Edwards believes the West Midlands League Premier Division outfit will provide tough opposition.

Edwards said: “I would have liked Leominster to have got through because I have a lot of good friends at the club, such as Sam Bowen.

“Apparently, Leominster were a bit unlucky not to have got through. But Ledbury Town are a good side and have a lot of lads who are training full-time at Hartpury College. It will be a tough game.”
