WESTFIELDS bounced back from a disappointing weekend draw to claim all three points against Worcestershire outfit Stourport Swifts.

Jamie Cuss and Zac Sirrell were on the scoresheet during Tuesday night's 2-1 win over Swifts which cements Fields' mid-table position in the Midland Football League Premier Division.

The win was a welcome relief after the city side were held to a 2-2 draw at struggling Brocton three days earlier.

On Tuesday, Stourport created a few early chances with James Baldwin beating the offside trap before seeing his lofted shot come back off the bar.

Soon after this they took the lead when a corner found its way to Danny Scheppell who saw his header squeeze into the net after hitting the woodwork.

The setback galvanised Fields though and they almost levelled things up when Matt Reeve saw his shot saved before sending another effort just wide.

Marcus Palmer then went through one-on-one with the 'keeper but he sent a weak shot which was comfortably saved.

Their reward came, however, when a shot by Joel Edwards came back off the bar before Cuss headed home.

Just a few minutes later, Fields were ahead when Sirrell unleashed a looping shot that flew over the head of Stourport's goalkeeper.

Just before half-time it was Stourport's turn to hit the post before home goalkeeper Matt Gwynne pulled off a great save to keep the score at 2-1.

Both teams threatened to score after the break but Westfields held on for their 17th league win of the season.

This Saturday they travel to table-toppers Basford United.
