A HEREFORD football club was represented when history was made in South America.
Found among the many flags and shirts of sides from across the globe at the recent Brazil and England friendly was one Westfields supporter proudly holding aloft his team’s scarf.
Gilberto Fazenda made the short trip from his home in Rio de Janeiro to see the match that formally opened the new Maracanã stadium.
He caught the bug of non-league English football when his daughter Flavia married Ian, the son of Westfields chief executive Andy Morris.
Gilberto has made several trips to allpay park and is yet to see the Midland Alliance runners-up lose. And the international friendly ended diplomatically for both families split by the Atlantic - the teams drew 2-2.
