HEREFORD United will not, after all, be without the services of goalkeeper Dave Cornell for Saturday's FA Cup first round tie with Yeovil Town at Edgar Street.

The on-loan Swansea keeper has been called up the Wales under-21 squad for their match in Armenia next Tuesday.

But the players had, apparently, been required to report for a pre-trip hill-walking session before the match which was going to rule Cornell out of contention for United's cup tie.

With Adam Bartlett still some weeks short of fitness and Russell Hoult ruled out by injury, United had been left with the tricky task of trying to recruit another onloan keeper.

But they were, predictably, encountering plenty of resistance with clubs not wanting keepers cup-tied.

However, some behind-the-scenes negotiations have paid off for United with Wales now allowing Cornell to join up with their squad after Saturday's match.

Prior to the decision to allow him to play, Cornell had been diplomatic about the offthe- field events.

"This stuff that's going on at the moment with next week is not my decision,"

he told his Twitter followers.

"I love playing international football and also for Hereford! I get told where to play and I'm happy enough to play wherever I get put to play!"

While Cornell is a certainty to be on the United team-sheet, two of his loan colleagues will be having an afternoon off.

Steve Leslie, who has extended his loan deal at Edgar Street by another month and will now be with the Bulls until at least December 8, has been refused permission to play by Shrewsbury Town.

And Tom Barkhuizen, United's leading scorer with five goals, will also be sidelined after Blackpool declined to let the teenager become cup-tied.

Leslie and Barkhuizen have been key players in the Bulls' recent good run and their absence will give boss Jamie Pitman a few headaches.

It may mean a chance for James McQuilkin or Kenny Lunt if United retain their preferred 4-5-1 system.

Although, with Yoann Arquin, Delroy Facey and on-loan Fulham teenager Richard Peniket, who scored for United reserves in a 1-1 draw with Coventry City reserves on Tuesday, all itching for action, United may revert to 4- 4-2 with one of them playing in attack alongside Nathan Elder.

"The FA Cup is always special and you can never see what the results are going to be,"

said Elder, the former Brentford and Shrewsbury striker.

"But we worked very hard against Crawley last weekend and if we can take that into the next game, then there should not be any problems."

"Yeovil are having a bit of a tough time at the moment," added utility player Rob Purdie.

"And we are playing a lot more confidently now and feel we have a good chance of winning the game."
