HEREFORD’S French striker Serge Mor Diop was again at the heart of the action as United saw off Mangotsfield.

Diop took his tally to seven in four games with an accomplished first-half strike.

And it was his shot which came back off the woodwork for Steve Vetier to add the second after the break.

“Mo’s on fire at the moment and he did just what he had to do,” said skipper Brad-Lee Gascoigne.

“We told him to stay inside the six-yard box and he has got goals from that.”

“Mo has been unbelievable for us,” added goalkeeper Luke Williams.

“It’s not just his goals, it’s the way he holds the ball up and takes the pressure off us.

“We know sometimes that if we need to get it forward, he is there to hold it up. He has been tremendous for us.”

Assistant manager Neil Phelps was keen to add his praise, too.

“Serge Mor Diop up front is a real handful,” he said.

“His touch is unbelievable, he can take the ball and control it really well.

“He holds it up well and he scores goals too.

“You can’t ask any more of a striker.

Phelps was pleased with the result in a potential banana-skin of a cup-tie.

“It was a good win but we had to fight for it,” he said.

“Physically they were very strong and they played football as well; they are a decent side.

“But we were more clinical in front of goal which, in the end, was the telling factor.

“We have five wins out of five and a clean sheet which is always pleasing, the back four are looking stronger and stronger.

“A lot of it is down to confidence. It was a new team at the start of the season and they have worked very hard but now they trust each other.

“They give each other the ball in dangerous places and know that they can look after it.”
