HEREFORD United’s football consultant Mark Ellis has worked for Arsenal Football Club – but not as a permanent member of staff.
An Arsenal spokesman said today: “As far as our records show, Mark Ellis worked with the club on a consultancy basis between December 2000 and May 2002 and was not a permanent member of staff.
“As far as our records show, Mark Ellis no longer has a connection with Arsenal Football Club.”
Ellis has been brought into United by new owner Tommy Agombar, who terminated his director's position at the club this week, to run the football side of the operation at Edgar Street.
Ellis caused uproar among Hereford's fans after claiming the manager's role was 'perhaps too big a job' for Pete Beadle, who saved United from relegation from the Conference Premier.
However, United have since been expelled from the Conference structure for non-payment of debts and were yesterday accepted into the Southern League Premier Division.
Ellis is a football agent for Crystal Sports Management based in Hornchurch and has been putting United’s triallists through their paces on the training ground at Victoria Park.
