LUCTONIANS head coach Ryan Watkins says he will take the positives out of his side's crushing 52-12 defeat to National League 2 North leaders Hinckley.

The Kinsgland side went into half-time level-pegging after leading 12-0, but the Leicestershire side blitzed their opponents in the second half, reeling in eight tries.

"We started off really well with Josh Watkins scoring two tries within 10 minutes and I thought we could have been on course for a bonus point," said Watkins.

"But I think the size difference played a part in the second half because they were a lot bigger than us.

"I'm disappointed with the score, but they are the best team we have played this season.

"They were very organised and we struggled to compete with them.

"But the positives are that we went toe-to-toe for 40 to 50 minutes against the best team in the league."

Luctonians have another tough game this Saturday when they host Tynedale, who are joint top of the division.

However, the Northumberland based side will be making their longest trip of the season, which could play in Lucs' hands.

"They will either be coming down on Friday or early Saturday morning and they have to factor that in," said Watkins.

"Hopefully we can capitalise on it.

"They are level on points at the top of the league but we've beaten them every time they have come here during my time at the club.

"They also like to play and I don't htink they will expose our weaknesses as much as Hinckley did."
