A RUGBY player jailed for punching a man causing him to lose his sight in one eye says he has to live it for the rest of his life.

Brad Talbot was playing for Luctonians at the time when the incident in the Ducking Stool pub in Leominster happened.

Talbot was with team mates on a night out when he ended up in a confrontation with Ashley Soden.

But now Talbot is back playing for Hereford and says he is enjoying playing rugby again.

"It was a big mistake and I've just got to live with it now," said Talbot.

"These boys here welcomed me and that was one big reason why I came back.

"I've just got to put it behind me now and go forward from here.

"I was at Luctonians for three years and really enjoyed it.

"But I've come back to play with the lads again and I'm enjoying it again.

"All the boys that were here before are still here and I played with the majority of them with the colts.

"They've welcomed me and it's been really good."

Talbot was due to play against Dudley Kingswinford last Saturday, but aggravated a hamstring injury in the warm up.

"I first did it away at Crewe & Nantwich," explained Talbot.

"I didn't train this week, but was fine to warm up, but I pinged it again.

"I will definitely not be playing this week, but maybe the week after."

Hereford have had an inconsistent start to the season, but Talbot believes the winter months will be key to his side picking up more wins.

"We haven't had the start to the season that I was hoping we would, but we're playing to how we know we can at the minute and we're getting there," he said.

"Coming into the winter now suits our game, so hopefully we can dog it out and get into the top four.

"With the boys down here at the minute, the winter months is key down here."
