LUCTONIANS and Hereford will both kick-start their pre-season campaigns tomorrow.

Lucs host Cardiff Met at Mortimer Park, while Hereford have a home date against Lydney.

For Alex Davidson's Luctonians, it will be a good test against a side who ply their trade in the WRU Championship.

German international Jorn Schroder is set to sign for the Kingsland side by the end of the month, while other new recruits include Stefan Psota, an athletic lock/back-rower, and prop Sam Bellamy.

Hooker Guy Kirkby has also returned to the club from Chester and Piers Morell is fresh off the back of a season playing in New Zealand.

Another new signing is second row forward Matthew Hall, who is a product of the Ospreys Academy.

Players who have departed include Anthony Marfell and Josh Watkins, while John Kelly, James Page and Max Hill are off to university

Luctonians' only other scheduled friendly is at home to Old Redingensians on August 27.

As for Hereford, Mike Rowlatt has handed over presidential reins to Roger James after a four year stint, while Luke Yarranton replaces Ali McColl as captain.

The coaching team continues to be based around head coach Bob Stewart, Kieram Hallam and John Watkins and is enhanced this season by veteran prop Dave Thomas, who will be development team player-coach.

Also joining the party is Luke Fisher, a hooker or flank forward who has experience of playing for Hartpury College, Jersey and Drybrook.

A Level Three coach, Fisher has coaching pedigree with all of those sides, as well as Worcester Ladies and various representative teams.

Following this Saturday's game, Hereford have an away friendly against Newent on August 27 before the league campaign starts at Stratford-upon-Avon on September 3.
