TRIES from Huw Bellamy and Casey Morgan helped Ross-on-Wye to a fine 18-3 win against Minchinhampton in Gloucester 2.

Ty Hayward also kicked over two penalties and a conversion to ensure Ross cement their place in the top five of the division.

“It was a good win because we’ve had a few injuries this season and last Saturday was no exception,” said Ross chairman Brian Harris.

“We had to work hard to get it on.

“I would say about 90 to 95% of the pitch was perfectly fine, but one side had a length of water so we spent three hours on Friday digging holes and forking it.

“It then froze overnight, so we had to work on it again on the Saturday morning.”

Meanwhile, Harris has confirmed that the club are to re-look at plans to improve the facilities at Greytree. Ross want to add more changing rooms and extend the community room.

“We were looking to get a bid before Christmas, but it didn’t materialise,” said Harris.

“The cost was quite high, so we’re going to re-look at some aspects of it.”

This Saturday, Ross entertain Westbury-on-Severn, while the seconds go to Cainscross in the Gloucester & District League.
