However, Morgan Goodall missed his kick before the same player again kicked wide four minutes later.
Hereford were reduced to 14 players when Lewis Jordan received a yellow card for a high tackle, but they still applied pressure.
They were rewarded was rewarded in the 34th minute, which Connor Sullivan converted.
Hereford captain Ali McColl was also yellow carded before a Bridgnorth player was sent to the sin bin 11 minutes from the end.
Tempers flared even more just a minute later when Josh Bell was sent off for a punch, but Hereford survived the last 10 minutes and earn the win.
McColl said it was a hard-earned victory.
"We wanted this and kept out a determined team with some great defence," he said.
"This was a win we worked hard for, and deserved.
"I am pleased that James Harris was chosen as man-of the-match by match sponsors Listers Landrover.
"He had a majestic game."
Due to the Rugby World Cup Final being played on Saturday afternoon, Hereford do not have a game this weekend.
They are next in action on November 7 when they travel to third-placed Burton.
