A MONTH after their miraculous last-day escape, Luctonians have handed out their end-of-season awards.

The north Herefordshire side secured their National League 2 North status with a dramatic 14-12 win over Leicester Lions at the end of April.

Players from the first team, plus other squads including juniors, gathered to mark the season, with Matt Hackley named first team player of the season.

Joe Doyle received a prize for being the first team's top tryscorer and most improved player.

Doyle hit the headlines during the Leicester Lions game when he scored the dramatic late try which secured their survival.

Elsewhere during the evening, Tom Dines was named second team player of the season, and Sam Boxhall the most improved player in the second team.

Charlie Doyle is the colts player of the season, with Alex Parker the colts' player player.

Meanwhile, Alex Smith has been named as the club's new administrator.

Smith has been involved with Luctonians for 19 years, playing from the Under 9s, through Colts, before making his first team debut in 2005.
