MORGAN Goodall marked his final game for Hereford in style by helping his side to a comfortable win against Kenilworth.

Goodall is due to return to play in the USA and said goodbye in the best possible way by starring in the Midlands 1 West victory.

The 43-5 vwin means Bob Stewart's side are still in pole position to securing a play-off place in Midlands 1 West and bounced back in style after losing to rivals Worcester Wanderers last time out.

Hereford attacked from the kick-off and took the lead after 10 minutes thanks to James Harris.

The Wyesiders then extended their lead when Dave Thomas drove over, with Goodall again kicking over the extra points.

A third try was then scored before the interval when Nat Thomas chased a well-judged kick.

Goodall successfully slotted over the conversion to take Hereford into the break 19-0 up.

Kenilworth had their best spell early in the second period and tested Hereford with some lively attacking play.

They did cross the Hereford line, only to be brought back for a forward pass.

Richard Preece then won a lineout inside the visitors' 22, which led to Luke Yarranton claiming the fourth try, ensuring Hereford picked up a bonus point.

Another slick handling movement saw Perry Pudge feed Goodall, who dived over in the corner.

A lapse of concentration in the home defence allowed Kenilworth to register a consolation try, which was sandwiched in between a two Matt Milsom tries, one of which was converted by Goodall.

"We have a week's break now before we visit Leek," said Stewart.

"For now, I just want the team to concentrate on winning that game."

Hereford spokesman Rob Davies said: "The tight five dominated possession and the back row of Matt Prithcard, Luke Yarranton and James Harris were on top of their game.

"Tom Ewins and Perry Pudge in midfield created plenty of opportunities for an elusive back three, while Morgan Goodall and his half-back partner Richard Chandler, controlled the game with skill."

Meanwhile, the Development XV progressed in the Reserve League Cup with a narrow 35-31 win over Burton 2nd.
