A CADET at Hereford City Platoon won a gold medal at the Army Cadet Force (ACF) National Swimming Championships.
Lauren Davies, from Fownhope, broke the championship record in the junior girls breaststroke category after completing the 50m length in 40.67 seconds.
The 14-year-old, who is a pupil at the Bishop of Hereford's Bluecoat School and trains at City of Hereford Swimming Club, also won silver in the individual medley and a relay at the event held at Aldershot Garrison.
Lauren's success helped the West Midlands go top in the standings in the junior girls section, ahead of the Eastern region and the South East.
However, Eastern won the overall team prize, with the West Midlands coming in fourth.
