A LEDBURY man travelled to the Mediterranean to compete in his second triathlon event in a month.

Leslie Dalley represented Great Britain in the ITU Cross Triathlon in Sardinia.

The Championship race comprised a 1500m sea swim, 30 kilometre cycle, and 10 kilometre cross-country run to finish.

"It was a very tough race indeed," said Dalley.

"Although I didn't quite have the form that I had earlier in the year, I was still very much delighted with my performance and result."

With a finishing time of 2hrs 59mins, Dalley finished an impressive 18th in his category and was the first Briton home out of the original 45 starters in the 50 to 55 age group.

"The honour of representing Great Britain in a world triathlon event was a fantastic experience with over 30 countries represented at the highest level," added Dalley.

"I will now rest up for a month or so and then begin my training for hopefully another successful year of off road triathlon in 2016."
