A HEREFORDSHIRE man is set to make his debut in the Renault UK Clio Cup Championship at Silverstone this weekend.
Ben Davis, who has attracted backing from haulage firm A.B.E. (Ledbury) Ltd, says he is hoping to show his potential at the Northamptonshire track.
"It is a huge opportunity for me and I have to thank Andy Boyle for believing in me," said Davis, who is 22 and from Much Marcle.
"It will only be my third ever car race weekend and I have only driven the new Clio once, but this just adds to the excitement.
"I have a lot of guests coming and I hope to put on a good show.
"I am using it as a springboard to attract more sponsors in order to race in the series in 2016.”
The Renault UK Clio Cup has a long history of producing future stars and regarded as the feeder series to the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC).
A.B.E. (Ledbury) Ltd managing director Andy Boyle said he is delighted that his firm is backing Davis.
"A.B.E.(Ledbury) Limited derives the majority of its business from Herefordshire and so this venture ticks several boxes; supporting a local talent further his ambitions and it is a chance to bang the drum for Herefordshire and those clever and innovative businesses within the county," he said.
Race one will start at 12.35pm on Sunday, with the second race getting underway at 4.30pm.
The event will be shown live on ITV4.
