A LEDBURY badminton player came through unbeaten in the under-13 Gold National Circuit competition.
Chad Warren returned from a two-month injury lay-off to take part in the event at Lilleshall in Shropshire.
The 11-year-old Herefordshire Badminton Academy player came through five matches unbeaten to win the boys’ singles event before partnering Swedish junior international Tom Soderstrom in the combined gold and gold star doubles.
Despite being younger and smaller than his partner and opponents, Warren was tactically and technically excellent as the duo beat the current England pair and number two seeds in the semi-finals. They were pipped by the eventual tournament winners 16-21, 19-21.
Warren, who is supported by Halo Leisure and Ready Steady Go Foundation, will be appearing in the doubles competition at Hereford Academy on February 28.
