DINMORE-based owner/trainer Stella Havard had much to celebrate at the Hereford and Borders Harness Racing awards lunch.

Havard, who was recently returned as club chairman for a 21st term, collected the trophies for both leading horse and leading mare for her homebred seven year-old, Tantalizing, who was so consistent at the club’s Allensmore meetings.

Roy Sheedy, who won the awards for leading owner and leading trainer has become chairman of the national governing body, the British Harness Racing Club, and will now be juggling those duties with his racing commitments.

Leominster's Patrick Morris collected the award for top senior driver, along with that for the fastest time of the season with Meadowbranch Josh.

Martin Roberts was the victor of the C Class Drivers Series, while Nathan Strickland, a trainee engineer with Rolls Royce, narrowly took the young driver award ahead of his brother, Jed.
