HEREFORD solicitor Peter Lewis is to compete in the Welsh Historic and Old Stager Rally Championships this year, with three of the rounds taking place over the tarmac roads on the military ranges over Epynt in mid-Wales.

Lewis will have Alan Jones as his co-driver and will compete in a Ford Escort RS 2000, built by West Wales Rally Spares and maintained by Ted Richards, from Hereford.

The team have secured sponsorship from city solicitors Humfrys & Symonds, where Lewis works as a locum property solicitor.

"We are very grateful to our sponsors Humfrys and Symonds, Herefordshire Motor Club and friends during our 2015 season as earlier in the year my six year old grandson became very ill and everyone mentioned were very instrumental in raising funds for the Royal Marsden Hospital in Surrey who were absolutely marvellous with his treatment back to a full recovery," said Lewis.

Andrew Johnson, director at Humfrys and Symonds, added: “Rallying has a strong following in Herefordshire and the surrounding area, so it’s a great way to get our name out there. We’re right behind the H&S team and wish Peter and Alan well.”

The opening round will be at Pembrey on February 7.
