PRESTEIGNE won the battle against local rivals Kington to lie fourth in South Wales Hockey League Premier Division 2.

Kington went in front from a short corner before Presteigne upped their game in the second half.

A long ball from Jess Goodwin saw Rita Tomkins outrunning the Kington defence to level the scores.

Charlie Morris then set up Goodwin to put Presteigne ahead, which they did not relinquish.

The following day, Presteigne played Knighton in the Marches League.

Fielding a number of young players, Presteigne went ahead through Sally Morris.

Goodwin then doubled the lead before Knighton pulled a goal back.

In West Clubs' Women's Hockey League Premier Division 2A, Hereford drew 1-1 with Cheltenham 2nd.

The second team had a good win against bottom of the league Shipton Oliffe in Severn Division 1.

Clare Milton opened the scoring before Jess Sayce made it 2-0.

Player of the match Kelly Higgins scored two quick goals after the break before Annie Brace and Pip Pearson also got on the scoresheet to secure the 6-0 win.

In the same league, Colwall & Malvern drew 1-1 with Lansdown 2nd.

A goalmouth scramble led to Lansdown opening the scoring before Sammie Shail brilliantly set up Erica Abbey to equalise.

Colwall also took a squad of 10 players to play in the Worcestershire Friendly Clubs Seven-a-Side League in Droitwich.

They drew 0-0 in their three games against King's Heath, Droitwich and Stourport.

Elsewhere, Leominster lost 5-0 at home to Old Bristolians in North Division and Ross-on-Wye went down 1-0 to Bretforton 2nd.
