TANZANIAN striker Eric Odhiambo (pictured) says he’s happy to be letting his feet do the talking after a summer of kicking his heels in frustration.

He linked up with Hereford United in pre-season, but had to wait for international clearance before he could finally sign for the Bulls in September.

“It was a very frustrating summer because I was at home every day waiting for a phonecall to tell me that I could play,” said 24-year-old Odhiambo.

“I just wanted to play and not playing has cost me.

“Had I been in the manager’s plans at the start of the season, I would have played more.

“But the boss had been working with other players in pre-season and they know the style of play he wants.

“But I am here now and I am trying to get into the team.”

Prior to joining Hereford, Odhiambo played in Turkey for Denizlispor.

He said he learned a lot during his two-year stay in Turkey. “It was a good experience,” said Odhiambo.

“I went to Turkey after being in Scotland and England and I learned a lot.

“It was a different style of play and I picked up a lot of things.”

Odhiambo, whose brother Eddie plays for Skrill North outfit Brackley Town, is staying in digs in Hereford. He describes Hereford as ‘a small, humble place’ and everyone he’s met has been very friendly and welcoming.

“Hereford is a nice place and there are a good bunch of lads at the club,” said Odhiambo.

“It is a young team, but a team that wants to get better and there are players who are working hard,”

Odhiambo was born in Tanzania and both his parents are Tanzanian. He would love to play for his country one day, but that is something he is not thinking about at the moment.

“After the couple of setbacks I have had, I am just taking one thing at a time,” he said.

“I want to focus on playing for Hereford and trying to get into the starting 11.”
