HEREFORD Ladies gained a creditable draw against Swindon in their first game of 2016 in Premier Division 2A of the West Club's Women's Hockey League.
The city side are seventh in the division, but matched their Wiltshire opponents and will be going into this Saturday's game at City of Bath inc confident mood, despite losing all four of their away games thus far.
City of Bath are one place below Hereford in the league table.
It was a different story for the men's team, who sustained an 11-0 hammering at the hands of Conference North leaders Wotton-under-Edge.
Hereford are second-from-bottom in the division, five points behind Yate, who who 10th.
The latter beat Leominster 3-1 last Saturday, which sees the north Herefordshire side placed in ninth.
Hereford 2nds, meanwhile, beat Gloucester City 3rds in The Marches 1
Ross-on-Wye are now two two points clear at the top of De Cymru & The Marches 2 following a 3-0 win over Cardiff University's third team.
This Saturday, Ross go to Cardiff Medica, who are third.
It was also a good weekend for the Ross Junior Mixed Badger team, who enjoyed a 9-3 win against Newent.
Rory Calderwood led the way with four goals, with Archie Oubridge-Brock (3) and Carys Williams (2) also on target.
