Presteigne travelled to Dowlais in South Wales Hockey League Premier 2.

The home side, who have just come down from Prem 1, started strongly but didn't have it all their own way.

The Presteigne midfield of Beth Watson, Meg Cosgrove and Emily Tyler held them well until midway through the first half when they were awarded a penalty corner.

The set-piece worked well with Dowlais taking the lead.

After the break, Presteigne started strongly with Emily Tyler and Beth Watson passing well to cross towards Jess Goodwin and fed Ellie Williams to take a very well-worked goal.

The play went from end to end with both teams playing some excellent hockey but the home side was then awarded a penalty stroke for a foot on the goal line.

Presteigne’s keeper, Sophie Durban, managed to get a leg to the ball but couldn’t prevent it from going in.

The visitors continued to press and were awarded a few penalty corners but could not capitalise on them.

Dowlais’ set pieces were working well and they converted another penalty corner to win 3-1.

In Division 1, Kington and Swansea City 3rd drew 2-2.
