HEREFORD 2nd have continued their move into mid-table in West Club's Women's League Severn One with a 6-3 home win over Badgers.

The hosts fell behind in the early stages but equalised through Kelly Higgins before Dwyn Jones struck from a short corner to give Hereford the lead.

Badgers equalised again but player-of-the-match Ellie Baxter struck her best form, scoring a second-half hat-trick as she worked well with Higgins and Di Feely.

Lucy Debenham's goal rounded off a fine victory for the young side.

In the same division, Colwall & Malvern were held to a 3-3 home draw by Cheltenham Civil Service despite a hat-trick from Chey West.

Cheltenham scored early on but West levelled from a penalty corner.

With West, Georgia Hart and Becky Lewis passing well, West soon converted another penalty corner only for the visitors to hit back again.

A neat passing move allowed West to complete her treble but Cheltenham equalised from a second-half penalty flick, despite a fine effort from Jen Shail to keep it out.

Hereford's first team had a more difficult day and were beaten 4-0 at Swindon in Premier 2A.

Leominster had to dig deep to secure a 3-3 draw with visiting Bristol University 2nd in North Division.

The students made a good start and powered into a 2-0 half-time lead.

But Leominster responded and reduced arrears through Karen Hackley.

Bristol scored again but Leominster played some well-worked hockey with Caroyne Hughes, Kate Holder, Nina Emery, Hackley and Emma Bradley all strongly involved as Emery and Bradley scored the goals to level the scores.

In Severn Three, Ellie Blanin's goal was all that Colwall & Malvern 2nd had to show from a 6-1 home reverse to Blockley 2nd.

A player-of-the-match performance from Charlie Morris helped Presteigne to overturn South Wales Premier 2 joint-leaders Whitchurch 5-2.

Jess Goodwin and Rita Tomkins twice put Presteigne again only for the home side to equalise on each occasion.

Goodwin again restored the lead and, after some fine saves by Marie Watson in the Presteigne goal, Lesley Phillips converted a short corner with Tomkins rounding off the win after a Goodwin strike came back off a post.
