LEOMINSTER had to be content with a point from a 4-4 draw with visiting West Wilts in the North Conference of the Davis Wood League despite holding a 3-1 half-time lead.
Man-of-the-match Ed Healey gave Leominster an early lead but this was quickly cancelled out.
Harry Ellis did well to set up a goal for Rob Goodman and then scored himself following a short corner.
Two goals in quick succession after the interval brought the visitors back into the game, but Ellis again restored the lead with a fine drag-flick before West Wilts hit back with a late equaliser.
Two first-half goals from influential Stew Goodarzi set Hereford on their way to a 4-0 success at Cleevillians in De Cymru and Marches 1.
With Leo Mather and Alex Miller in fine form in defence, Cleevillians’ attacks were easily snuffed out and Mike Broady sealed the win with two second-half strikes, the first with a penalty flick. Ross suffered a setback with a 6-2 defeat at home to Cardiff and Met ‘B’ in De Cymru and Marches League 2.
It seemed as if Ross might be set to build on their fine win over Westbury the previous week when youngster Johnny Cross bagged his opening first-team goal.
But the home side lost central-defender Richard Jennison with a nasty cut to his hand and Cardiff hit back to lead 2-1 at the interval.
In pouring rain, the Welshmen scored three more at the start of the second period and, although Adrian Williams’ first goal of the season briefly raised Ross hopes, another Cardiff strike rounded off their success.
There was still time for the unfortunate Kristian Franklin to be hospitalised after getting on the end of an attempted Cardiff shot.
Ross 2nd were beaten 3-0 at Bourton and Sherborne in Marches 2 while, In Marches 1, Hereford 2nd went down 4-1 at Newent 2nd while Leominster 2nd gained a point from a 3-3 draw at Lansdown 3rd.
